Summary
Over the past three years LCNA has raised over £17,000. Profits have all been equally distributed back promptly to the four London areas. We believe that although profits have fallen recently this is down to the state of the economy and the credit crunch which affects even addicts. Also the cost of the venue has risen from £6,000 to £7,000. Actual attendance figures have been steady at about 1100 people each year. We believe more newcomers are coming who are unable to contribute much - verified by the fact we gave away 60 basic texts at this years event. We have introduced online pre-registration to facilitate attendance and our website gives a constant update of developments.
This year - LCNA 18 - we did not pay for any speakers to come over from abroad and shall continue to do so for LCNA 19 in 2010 although we shall continue to encourage people to travel at their own cost to share their message of experience, strength and hope.
We are doing what we can to offer a broad range of speakers and we have introduced meetings for men, women, foreign languages and other groups as well as meditation and yoga sessions for the general satisfaction of the London Fellowship. Every year we put on a creche to allow parents to attend. This costs us nearly £2,000 but believe it is important as every member of NA has the right to attend.
Although the primary aim of the convention is to bring NA members together and encourage Newcomers to attend it is important we raise funds for the four London areas.
As a Committee LCNA is open to hearing feedback from all members and we attempt to put on a convention to satisfy as many people as possible.
A lot of hard work is put in by a small team of about 20 people every year over 11 months to ensure we have the best convention. All funds held by LCNA belong to the four London Areas. This money is necessary to ensure the event can be run properly from year to year including organizing fund raising dances which are held throughout the winter months.
We hope LCNA 2010 will be another successful Convention and we hope you can attend.
